What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work with a pupil with an EHCP who will be joining our Reception Class in September 2024.The role involves supporting the child in lessons and in 1:1 interventions under the guidance of the class teacher/SENCO.

We are looking for a kind, patient, resilient and motivated person to support the learning and development of this child. The purpose of the role is to support the child, in particular to promote her communication, speech and language needs as well as her social development and well being. The person appointed will need to have:

  • Caring Attitude
  • Special Needs Experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Calm and sensitive approach
  • Have the ability to deal professionally with children, parents, staff and outside agencies as necessary
  • Ability to promote positive role models
  • Demonstrate patience and empathy
  • Able to use own initiative and help develop personalised learning
  • Knowledge of child development
  • General understanding of the EYFS curriculum
  • Appropriate level of data protection, security and confidentiality awareness
  • A commitment to safeguarding children

The role is for 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday 8.45am – 3.15pm with half an hour unpaid lunch break. The role is paid on the NJC Pay scale as Grade D points 3-4 with a starting salary of £22,737 pro rata.
