SEN Teaching Assistant

Part Time to commence Sept 2025 - Fixed term for 12 months

(ideally over 5 mornings, but we can be flexible for the right candidate)

To be paid at NJC Band C Scale Point 5 £12.85ph (39 weeks per year)

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting children with ASD in a primary school setting and demonstrate a strong understanding of strategies that promote engagement, communication, and emotional regulation. You will be part of a supportive team, with access to ongoing CPD and guidance from external professionals to ensure the pupil’s statutory needs are fully met.

We are looking for an individual with a strong, sensitive and nurturing approach to children’s needs, who can be flexible, communicate effectively and think creatively. You will need to show a high degree of initiative and be solution focussed. We offer you the support of clear systems, protocols, expectations and structures to help you to succeed. You will need to show initiative, creativity and demonstrate the aptitude to work as part of a successful and growing team to improve the life chances of our pupils and make every child feel ‘special’.

Ideally, you will:

- Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills;

- Be able to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents;

- Have high expectations of children’s behaviour and be able to maintain consistent boundaries;

- Be willing to work as part of a team;

- Be energetic, positive and enthusiastic;

- Be able to use your own initiative when required

Ideally, you should already have a good knowledge of all key stages and early years including phonics, but training will be provided otherwise, plus literacy and numeracy to GCSE A-C or equivalent. You would need to be flexible, as you will also be required to undertake the role of part time Meal Time Assistant.
