SENCo & classroom teacher job summary
Whitehouse PRU are seeking to appoint a new SENCO to add capacity to the school team. Applications are encouraged from both current and aspiring SENCO’s. The SENCO qualification is not an initial requirement, but the successful candidate would need to complete the national award as soon as possible. They will need to have good interpersonal skills and be committed to raising standards of attainment and achievement for all children. The SENCO will support the strategic development of SEND provision across the school, alongside carrying out their professional duties of a School Teacher.
We are looking for a SENCO who:
- Has relentlessly high expectations for the learning and behaviour of all children
- Has a good knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its practical application within and outside the classroom
- Can form excellent relationships with staff, pupils, parents and professionals
- Shows enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment
- Is positive, cheerful and hardworking whilst maintaining a healthy work/life balance
- Be able to adapt and respond appropriately to challenging situations

We are very proud of our unique setting. The Whitehouse PRU is a pupil referral unit for primary school aged pupils. We help and support pupils to re-engage with their learning both academically and socially.
Our prime purpose is to prepare pupils to be ready to return to mainstream or to transfer to the most appropriate provision.
Bridgeview Special School is co-located with the Whitehouse Pupil Referral Unit. Bridgeview is a special school for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
