What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well qualified and dedicated teacher, you would lead a forward-thinking department with a team consisting of a Deputy SENCo, a SEND Liaison Manager, Learning Support Practitioners and Learning Support Assistants. The successful candidate you will be:
- Highly motivated and passionate about providing all students with the very best educational opportunities.
- An outstanding teacher who can engage all learners, especially those with Special Educational Needs.
- Committed to further improving the quality of teaching and learning by supporting colleagues in the teaching of students with Special Educational Needs
- Highly knowledgeable in the field of Special Educational Needs
We are an over-subscribed school and consistently achieve some of the highest results in Sandwell. In our most recent Ofsted of February 2020 the school was judged to be good with outstanding features. We are extremely proud of being one of few secondary schools in the country to have been graded as outstanding for behaviour and attitudes under the new Ofsted framework. We have an excellent location being less than 15 miles from the centre of Birmingham whilst having excellent national links via both the M5 and the M6.

Wood Green Academy is a large 11-19 multicultural comprehensive school set in Wednesbury in the heart of the Black Country. The academy is located about 15km from the centre of Birmingham and has excellent national links by having the M5 and M6 nearby. It is an innovative, creative and forward thinking school held in high regard locally and nationally. The Academy has a long standing reputation for achieving some of the best GCSE and Post 16 results in the local area. Proud of belonging to a large and diverse school, our staff are professional, highly dedicated, collaborative, supportive and friendly. We are fully staffed in all areas with subject specialists. Our staffing is extremely stable with a large proportion of our staff having worked at Wood Green Academy for many years. We continually invest in staff development through weekly dedicated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) time, and by offering professional development opportunities and career development. We are also a National Support School and an School Direct Lead School heavily involved with Initial Teacher Training working with local universities and Teach First through post graduate courses.
