SEND Class Teacher (Year 1 - Lower KS2) job summary

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and skilled SEND Class Teacher to lead a specialist provision class for children in Year 1 to Lower Key Stage 2. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of pupils with a range of complex needs.

Our class supports children who access the provision full-time, as well as those who attend on a part-time basis, depending on their individual needs and EHCP provision.

About the role

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading a specialist SEND class for pupils with a range of complex needs
  • Planning and delivering a highly adaptive curriculum tailored to individual EHCP outcomes
  • Setting, tracking and reviewing personalised targets to ensure progress for all learners
  • Working closely with the SENCO and wider inclusion team to ensure high-quality provision
  • Collaborating effectively with teaching assistants to support learning, engagement and wellbeing
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with complex needs, including Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Has a strong understanding of SEND practice, including EHCPs and personalised learning pathways
  • Is creative, flexible and confident in adapting teaching to meet individual needs
  • Has excellent behaviour management skills rooted in understanding and relationship-building
  • Is passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
  • Works well as part of a team and values collaborative practice
