SEND Manager job summary
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised SEND Manager to support the strategic and operational delivery of SEND provision across our secondary school. This is a key support role focused on ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs, enabling strong progress, attainment, and positive outcomes.
You will work closely with the SENCO, senior leaders, teaching staff, Inclusion Assistants, families, and external agencies to ensure effective identification, support, and tracking of SEND and vulnerable students.
Key Responsibilities SEND Provision & Coordination- Coordinate and monitor SEND provision across the academy, ensuring effective support for pupils with additional needs.
- Oversee the SEND register, ensuring it is accurate, up to date, and reflects current needs.
- Manage and timetable Inclusion Assistants to ensure effective deployment in class and intervention settings.
- Support the planning and delivery of targeted intervention programmes, including literacy, numeracy, and communication-based support.
- Analyse data to identify underachievement and inform intervention strategies.
- Monitor the impact of interventions on pupil progress and attainment.
- Support tracking systems for SEND and vulnerable learners to ensure strong outcomes.
- Support and contribute to the application process for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Assist in the preparation and review of Annual Reviews for pupils with complex needs.
- Maintain accurate and compliant SEND documentation and records.
- Support exam access arrangements and associated assessments.
- Provide day-to-day coordination of Inclusion Assistants, particularly within Cognition & Learning and Communication & Interaction teams.
- Support effective deployment of staff to meet student need.
- Ensure interventions and in-class support are delivered consistently and effectively.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, senior leaders, and external agencies.
- Liaise effectively with parents and carers to support student progress and engagement.
- Contribute to transition planning for new students and Year 6 intake.
- Support Year 11 SEND students in preparing for successful post-16 destinations.
- Promote inclusive practice across the school.
- Support implementation of behaviour strategies for SEND learners.
- Oversee key intervention programmes and ensure measurable impact on learning and progress.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in SEND coordination or inclusion support within a school setting.
- Highly organised with strong data and administrative skills.
- Confident working with external agencies and families.
- Knowledgeable about SEND processes, including EHCPs and interventions.
- Committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners.
- Calm, approachable, and effective in a busy school environment.
- Experience working within SEND, inclusion, or pastoral support (school-based essential).
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation and processes.
- Experience managing or coordinating support staff desirable.
- Ability to analyse data and use it to improve outcomes.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
