What skills and experience we're looking for
About us
The staff and governors of Longsight Community Primary School, a friendly, inclusive and supportive school, are looking to recruit a highly effective classroom practitioner with significant experience of delivering IEP and EHCP provisions.
Longsight Community Primary is a one-form entry primary school serving a richly diverse community in Longsight. Longsight CP is part of the multi-academy trust Big Life Schools, which shares the vision and values of the Big Life group. Longsight CP is a UNICEF Rights Respecting Gold school and we pride ourselves on our inclusive, nurturing ethos with a strong focus on the wellbeing of staff and children (23% of our pupils are on the SEND register and 6.8% have an EHCP).
Our specialist SEND provision (The Treehouse) was established in January 2025 in response to the very high level of complex needs within the school. These include children with significant communication and interaction difficulties, displaying high levels of sensory-seeking behaviour, and requiring sustained 1:1 support for basic self-care needs. All pupils accessing the provision have an EHCP, and most meet the threshold for a specialist school placement. Our school has developed this provision to ensure these pupils receive a safe, structured, and developmentally appropriate education.
The successful candidate will:
- Be an experienced, outstanding teacher of children with additional needs
- Be able to work well in a team and deploy and support additional staff effectively
- Be positive, resilient, flexible and work well in our happy team
- Be committed to and passionate about challenging inequalities and making a difference
- Be able to develop positive relationships with parents and communicate well with people from diverse backgrounds
- Share Longsight’s vision and the values of the Big Life Group
What the school offers its staff
- Teachers’ pay scale M1 – M6 £31,650 - £45,352 + SEND allowance (£2,787).
- Culturally and socially diverse families who are fully supportive of the school.
- A warm and pleasant working environment in a new modern building, co located with Longsight Family Hub, serving families and young people, and Longsight Nursery.
- A happy, welcoming staff team.
- Your birthday as an additional day of leave
- Opportunities for career development and specialist training
- The support of our MAT, Big Life Schools and the wider Big Life group
- A comprehensive wellbeing offer.
Flexible working opportunities
Although the role is being advertised as full time we would consider someone who wanted to work four days a week for work-life balance.
