What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to recruit a teaching assistant to work with a child with anEHCP in Key Stage 2. Knowledge or experience of supporting children withsensory needs, using emotion coaching approaches and adapting thecurriculum would be advantageous. The successful applicant will worktowards the outcomes set out in the EHCP, by supporting the pupilindividually.

Blue Coat School, founded in 1693, is a popular and successful Voluntary Aided school situated in the town of Wotton-under-Edge. Situated 10 minutes from the M5 and only a short drive from Stroud, Tetbury and Thornbury, our school is within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The school site is now 24 years old and is surrounded by the views the area is renowned for. Our admissions number is 45 and we currently have 313 children on roll organised into ten classes comprising of:
Blue Coat Pre-School is situated on the school site and is run by a separate Management Trustee Committee and retains its excellent reputation as an Early Years provider.
he school leadership structure is in the form of our Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher, SENCo and our Business Manager. Following consultation with our stakeholders, we have developed an exciting vision for Blue Coat by focusing firmly on the future and how we best prepare our pupils for it. Underpinning this vision are four core Christian Values – all of which are firmly embedded and have significant impact on our whole school community, as recognized within our SIAMS Inspection Report 2019.

Blue Coat has a committed team of teaching and non-teaching staff who work together to provide the best possible education for our children. As a Voluntary Aided school, Blue Coat has very close links with our local church. The children visit St Mary’s Church for a service at least once a term and representatives from the local churches lead acts of worship in school on a weekly basis as well as providing a range of other enrichment experiences.
Our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is very active, forward-thinking and supportive, organising several major fundraisers over the academic year which contribute towards funding the school’s improvement priorities. Families are extremely supportive of our school and involved in all aspects of school life.
The Governors work closely with the Headteacher and staff in evaluating and improving the education we offer and ensuring that we provide the best possible outcomes for all our pupils.
