SEND Teaching Assistant job summary

Widewell Primary Academy is looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our committed and nurturing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a school community that places children’s wellbeing and learning at the heart of everything we do.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with a range of SEND and SEMH needs
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and the SENDCo to adapt resources and deliver targeted interventions
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that support each child’s academic, social, and emotional development
  • Help create a classroom environment where every child feels valued, confident, and ready to learn
  • Promote independence, confidence, and a love of learning in every child you support
  • Contribute to assessments, reviews, and the implementation of EHCP targets.

    We are looking for someone who:

    • Has experience working with children with SEND (in a school or similar setting)
    • Is patient, empathetic, and able to adapt to different needs and situations
    • Works well as part of a team and communicates clearly with staff, pupils, and families
    • Is passionate about inclusion and committed to helping every child reach their full potential
