Key responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Condition, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions
- Support individual and small groups of students to access learning, following teacher planning and guidance
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation using consistent, trauma-informed and autism-aware strategies
- Build strong, respectful relationships that support students’ confidence, independence, and wellbeing
- Assist in the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning strategies
- Support communication and social interaction, using appropriate visual, sensory, and structured approaches
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families, and external professionals
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Support personal care needs where required, with dignity and respect
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development related to SEND and ASC
Pay range:
SCP 8-13 - £23,592.44 - £25,562.59
FTE - £26,824.00 £29,064.00
Qualifications:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning)
- A commitment to supporting children and young people with SEND, particularly Autism Spectrum Condition
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the direction of teaching staff
- Strong communication skills and a calm, patient, and flexible approach
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, ASC, or additional needs
- Training in autism-specific strategies, behaviour support, or sensory integration
- Experience supporting students with EHCPs
