What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for someone who has a proven and consistent track record as an excellent class teacher, has a clear understanding of how to achieve the best possible outcomes for all pupils, particularly those with SEND, and is passionate and inspirational about teaching and learning. You will be able to articulate demonstrable evidence of this over time.

You will:

  • Have a proven track record of excellent teaching.
  • Have an excellent understanding of teaching and learning across the primary age range.
  • Have an understanding of high-quality provision for children with a wide range of SEND needs.
  • Be able to inspire high quality teaching and learning, particularly in relation to SEND by modelling and striving for excellent practice.
  • Have vision, passion and drive to raise attainment and achieve excellent outcomes for all pupils.
  • Be able to lead others across the team in providing the best possible learning for our pupils.
  • Be able to work independently, and as part of the leadership team, to continue to move the school forwards.
  • Have a desire to develop your own skills and career progression.
  • Be a positive role model for staff.
  • You will either hold, or be keen to undertake, the National Award for SEN Coordination.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a SENDCo and Classteacher who can continue to lead our school in providing excellent support and access to education for our children with SEND. You will have experience, energy and enthusiasm that will enable you to make a strong contribution to the development of the school. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to join the Senior Leadership Team at Hazeldown and directly influence the next phase of our development.

The expectations of this role will require you to have a teaching commitment, but the majority of time will be for leadership of SEND, out of class.

You will be leading the SEND team at Hazeldown. Our Early Help Lead and SENDCo Assistant is a key member of the SEND team, and we are fortunate to have a number of high quality support staff who bring different key specialisms to the children.
