SENDCo job summary
We are seeking a SENDCO who can lead our dedicated and established Learning Support Department to deliver high quality support for our students.
The post is key in terms of enhancing and ensuring the positive life chances for students through opportunity, success and achievement. You will be responsible for reviewing and developing intervention strategies to support best practice in the classroom. The successful candidate will be someone who can inspire a team of LSAs and other professionals to make a positive difference to the lives of all students with SEN or a disability, providing them with the level of support and challenge that will see them achieve their full potential.
Main Purpose of the Job:
The SENDCO, under the direction of the Headteacher, will:
• Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school
• Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
• Manage and implement the rigorous monitoring of the progress and attainment outcomes of all students with SEN or a disability
• Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
• The SENCO will also be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document
