What skills and experience we're looking for

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or is working towards it, or has equivalent relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Has successful experience of leading SEND provision within a primary school setting.
  • Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusion, equality of opportunity and high aspirations for all pupils.
  • Is skilled in identifying barriers to learning and implementing effective strategies to overcome them.
  • Has excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Works effectively with pupils, families, staff, governors and external agencies.
  • Can analyse information and evaluate the impact of provision to improve outcomes.
  • Is committed to supporting and promoting the Catholic ethos and values of the school.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and manage SEND provision across the school.
  • Ensure that pupils with SEND receive high-quality support and make strong progress from their starting points.
  • Advise and support teachers in meeting the needs of pupils with SEND.
  • Maintain accurate SEND records and statutory documentation.
  • Coordinate Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes and annual reviews.
  • Work closely with parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of SEND provision and interventions.
  • Contribute to whole-school self-evaluation and school improvement planning.
  • Promote an inclusive culture in which all pupils feel valued and supported.
