The ideal candidate;
- Will monitor the wellbeing of the pupils and assist in the clearing away of the lunchtime areas where necessary.
- Will have a willingness to undertake first aid training if required.
- Will be working as part of a friendly and supportive team so being a team player, with a ‘can do’ solution focused attitude is essential.
- Will have the ability to confidently organises suitable activities for small groups of children.
- Demonstrates the ability to listen carefully to pupils, showing kindness, empathy and understanding with a certain degree of flexibility as the role may change depending on the needs of the pupils.
- Has a calm, caring demeanour and is able to nurture children.
- Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to work within different areas of the school (as needed) over the lunchtime period.
In addition to MSA duties the Senior MSA will have responsibility for the management of other supervisory assistants, including the allocation and monitoring of work, recruitment, appraisal and training. Responsible to the Headteacher. The Senior MSA will have a higher level of initiative and independence and deal with more problems that may arise and use analytical skills to take decisions such as when to bring the pupils inside if it starts raining for example. The Senior MSA uses planning skills to create the rota for playground duties, which may have to be changed at last minute due to sickness for example.
