Wycombe High School is seeking to appoint a proactive, organised and enthusiastic Senior Physics Technician to support the delivery of outstanding Science education, particularly within Physics. This is a hands-on role at the heart of a busy and successful Science department, involving the preparation of practical lessons, maintenance of laboratories and equipment, and ensuring the highest standards of health and safety.

Salary: Bucks Pay Scale 3, Points 16-20 (£29,114 - £31,230 FTE, pro rata)
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday

About the Role:

As Senior Physics Technician, you will be responsible for preparing, setting up and maintaining equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons, demonstrations and experiments. You will work closely with teaching staff to support exciting hands-on learning experiences, assist with practical activities where required, maintain laboratories and specialist equipment, and help ensure the highest standards of health and safety are upheld across the department. You will also play an important role in stock control, equipment inventories, housekeeping, and trialling new practical activities and apparatus.

We are looking for a well-organised and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Applicants should be educated to at least A-Level standard (or equivalent), ideally with a background in Physics or another Science discipline. The successful candidate will be confident using ICT, able to manage multiple priorities, and committed to providing outstanding support to both staff and students.

Wycombe High School is a girls’ selective state academy school with 1304 students on roll, of whom around 400 are in the Sixth Form. Each year 192 girls are admitted into Year 7. All students are assigned to a vertical tutor group consisting of about 21 students; usually three students from each year. group There are six houses with 10 tutor groups in each house.
