About us and the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Premises Officer to join the team at Avanti Gardens School, Bristol, taking a lead role in maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-managed school environment for our pupils, staff and visitors.
You will oversee the day-to-day operation of the site, supporting a team of premises and cleaning staff while coordinating maintenance, contractors and essential facilities services.
Working closely with the Principal, Business Support Manager and Area Site Manager, you will help ensure that the school’s facilities are maintained to a high standard, with repairs, planned maintenance and improvements completed efficiently and effectively.
You will also contribute to health and safety, site security, procurement, lettings and capital projects, helping to ensure the school is well prepared to meet its day-to-day operational needs.
This is an opportunity to use your facilities management experience, practical knowledge and leadership skills to make a visible difference to the school environment and play an important role in ensuring the site operates safely and effectively each day.
What will you do?
- Oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, security and safety of the school site, ensuring facilities are clean, well-maintained and fit for purpose.
- Lead and support premises, cleaning and caretaking staff, as well as contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Plan and monitor maintenance schedules, repairs and improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance the school environment and ensure works are completed efficiently.
- Support facilities budgets, procurement and capital projects, including obtaining quotations and ordering essential supplies and consumables.
- Work closely with the Principal, Business Support Manager and Area Site Manager on health and safety, compliance, lettings and the wider operational needs of the school.
What are we looking for?
- At least 1 year of experience in a facilities management role.
- Experience managing a team, including cleaners and caretakers.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and other relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
