Site Assistant job summary
As our Site Assistant, you will help create a safe, clean and welcoming environment where our pupils can learn, grow and thrive. A well-cared-for site sends a powerful message to every child who walks through our gates: you matter, and this is a place where you belong.
Working alongside our Site Manager and Residential Caretaker, you will make sure our buildings are ready, secure and well maintained every day. You will carry out repairs and minor maintenance, keep our grounds and social spaces tidy, support site compliance checks and fire evacuations, and monitor the work of contractors. You will also support out-of-hours lettings, welcoming visitors and community groups and making sure the premises are secure at the end of each session, helping our academy play its part at the heart of the local community.
You are practical and hands-on, with general maintenance knowledge and an awareness of health and safety, manual handling and COSHH, or a real willingness to learn. You communicate well and build positive relationships with staff, students, contractors and visitors alike. You are reliable and flexible, able to prioritise your workload, stay calm under pressure and work well both as part of a team and on your own. You will also hold a full, valid UK driving licence, and a D1 minibus entitlement would be an advantage.
This is an active role that includes lifting and carrying, working at height using ladders, and snow clearance and gritting in the winter months. We are happy to discuss reasonable adjustments to support you.
At Broadland High Ormiston Academy we are committed to providing a safe, happy and inspiring learning environment in which all students and staff can grow, develop and flourish.
