What skills and experience we're looking for

Function of the post:

To provide practical, hands-on maintenance and caretaking support across both schools, ensuring sites are well maintained, safe and presentable. Principal Accountabilities:

1. Ensure the site and all areas of the premises are secure, undertaking daily security checks including locking and unlocking of the building and setting the alarm.

2. Support the Site Manager to perform a broad range of duties in line with health and safety regulations, including, but not limited to, maintenance tasks, redecoration, grounds maintenance, asbestos management, legionella management, site risk assessments etc.

3. Be able to carry out minor repairs and maintenance, including furniture, fixtures, fittings, doors, locks and basic plumbing.

4. Undertake decorating tasks (painting, touch-ups, display preparation) and maintain internal and external environments to a high standard.

5. Provide minor grounds maintenance, litter picking and keeping paths, play areas and entrances safe and clean. Including supporting seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance, gritting and preparation for adverse weather.

6. Complete tasks arising from health and safety inspections and risk assessments.

7. Report defects or hazards promptly using the correct reporting systems.

8. Provide additional cleaning support when required, including spillages or accidents, deep cleaning of specific areas

9. Operate equipment and systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and alarms ensuring that they are maintained in good working order at all times.

10. Support and assist members of staff and visitors with regard to premises management, ensuring the highest levels of customer service are set and achieved and ensure they are operating within Health and Safety related guidelines.

11. As a key holder you will be required from time to time to respond to security alerts. On occasions it will also be expected, with advance notice, to ensure the premises are secure outside of normal working hours, e.g. school events.
