Site Manager job summary
Cottingley Village Primary School is seeking a proactive, skilled and dedicated Site Manager to join our friendly and hardworking team. This is a key role in ensuring our school provides a safe, welcoming and high‑quality environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
As our Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day management, maintenance and security of the school site. You will ensure that our buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, clean and well-presented at all times.
This role would suit someone with strong practical skills, excellent organisational abilities and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the security and safety of the school site, including opening and closing procedures.
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks across the buildings and grounds.
- Liaise with contractors and oversee planned maintenance works.
- Conduct regular health & safety checks, including risk assessments, fire safety checks and compliance monitoring.
- Manage site resources, including ordering materials and maintaining equipment.
- Support with setting up rooms, events and school activities when required.
- Maintain cleanliness in external areas and oversee caretaking/cleaning duties where appropriate.
- Have previous experience in site management, caretaking or a similar facilities role (school experience desirable but not essential).
- Possess strong practical/DIY skills and the confidence to handle routine repairs.
- Be reliable, flexible and able to work independently.
- Have good communication and organisation skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and keeping children safe (DBS check required).
