Site - Painter & Decorator job summary

Painting & Decorating

  • Carry out internal and external painting and decorating to a high professional standard.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, filling, priming and repairing minor defects.
  • Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper or other finishes as required.
  • Maintain paintwork, fixtures and fittings to ensure the school remains in good decorative order.
  • Ensure all work areas are left clean, tidy and safe after work is completed.

Maintenance & Repair

  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks related to decoration, such as repairing cracks, damaged plaster, woodwork and fixtures.
  • Report any significant defects or safety concerns to the Site Manager.
  • Assist with general site duties when required (e.g., moving furniture for decorating projects or helping prepare rooms).

Health & Safety

  • Work in line with school Health & Safety policies and relevant regulations.
  • Use tools, ladders and equipment safely and maintain them in good working order.
  • Ensure safe storage of paints, chemicals and materials.
  • Follow risk assessments and COSHH guidelines.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with the Site Team to prioritise and plan decoration projects.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff and contractors.
  • Provide updates to the Cluster Site Manager on progress, materials needed, and any issues identified.

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
