Site Supervisor job summary

Make a real difference. Be the reason our school runs smoothly.

We're looking for a skilled, hands-on Site Supervisor to join our school family at St John's and St Peter's. Someone who takes ownership, works with pride, and understands that a well-run site is the foundation everything else is built on.

Ours is a large site in the heart of Birmingham city centre, and it needs someone who'll genuinely care for it. We're at an exciting point in our school's journey: we're about to launch OPAL, transforming our playground and outdoor provision for every child. This is a chance to be part of that change, not just maintain a building, but help shape the spaces our children learn and play in.

The role: 36.5 hours per week, 7:15am to 3:15pm, permanent, all year round.

You'll be the first through the door each morning and the reason the day runs smoothly. From planned maintenance to reactive fixes, from health and safety compliance to coordinating contractors, you'll keep every corner of our site safe, clean and ready for the 210 children and staff who depend on it every day.

What you'll be doing:

  • Maintaining buildings and grounds to a consistently high standard, including repairs, decorating and general upkeep
  • Opening the site, managing alarms and keeping the premises secure
  • Operating heating systems and building management systems
  • Coordinating external contractors, including catering, cleaning and grounds, to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Supporting room set-ups, furniture and equipment moves as needed
  • Managing waste and keeping the site clean, tidy and presentable
  • Supporting out-of-hours use of the premises
  • Ensuring full compliance with health and safety legislation and best practice

What we're looking for:

  • Practical, resourceful and able to turn your hand to most things
  • Proactive: you spot issues and fix them before they become problems
  • Solid working knowledge of health and safety requirements
  • A confident, positive communicator with staff, contractors and visitors
  • Reliable, self-motivated and calm under pressure
  • Someone who takes real pride in their environment

What we offer:

  • The chance to be part of a supportive, ambitious Trust with real opportunities to grow
  • Trust-wide collaboration, backed by experienced leaders and a responsive central team
  • A comprehensive wellbeing package
  • A vibrant, diverse community in the heart of Ladywood, with strong family and community links
