Special Needs Support Worker/Midday Supervisor job summary

Oak Wood Secondary School is a successful specialist setting for children and young people aged from 11 to 19 with a broad spectrum of special educational needs and learning disabilities. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Support Worker and Mid-day supervisor.

 

BROAD DESCRIPTION:

Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of pupils before, during and after the lunchtime period. Provide personal care as required. Join in with activities in class in a supervisory role as required.

 

Works under the general direction of designated member of Senior Leadership Team.

 

Responsibility for others: The post has considerable direct impact on the well-being of individuals or groups through either providing appropriate care or welfare for those who are personally dependent on the post for basic needs. (This post works with pupils with special needs requiring specialist support, including administering medication and using Makaton language skills as required)

    The above position offers an exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunity to be part of Central England Academy Trust. Oak Wood Secondary School shares the same site with our sister school Oak Wood Primary School. Both schools are oversubscribed generic special schools, meeting the educational needs of young people aged 3 to 19 and are independent of each other but work very closely towards ensuring that resources are fully utilised for maximum impact. In addition, Oak Wood Secondary School manages the educational provision at Jade Unit for young people with significant SEMH needs at Brooklands NHS Hospital in Solihull. Also, part of the Trust is Higham Lane School which is a high-performing 11-18 Comprehensive School also located in Nuneaton. There is great scope for collaborative work across the MAT.
