We are seeking a caring and dedicated Special Teaching Assistant (STA) to join our team and support children and young people with a range of special educational needs, including communication and interaction needs and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. This rewarding role focuses on helping students develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed both in education and in life.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide classroom support, assist with learning activities, help monitor student progress and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will build supportive relationships with students, encourage engagement in learning and help them develop resilience, social skills and emotional wellbeing. The role may also involve supporting students with personal care, supervising break and lunchtime activities, and promoting positive behaviour throughout the school day.

The successful candidate will have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a SEND or SEMH setting. You will be patient, empathetic and able to build positive relationships with students, whilst maintaining high expectations and supporting them to achieve their full potential. Sunrise joined SENDAT Trust on 1st April 2022. It was previously called The Everitt Academy. It caters for up to 52 young people with a full EHCP for SEMH in Key Stages 3 and 4.

We are working with the LA to consider taking some Key Stage 2 students in the future.

As at Trust we are committed to trauma informed practice across all our schools and in all policies we work to. We have trained over 30 Level 5 practitioners and have an ongoing commitment to this. To support this work we have developed out TIS umbrella, which aims to show approaches and programmes that we use across the Trust under our overall TIS approach.
