Speech & Language Therapist job summary

Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist

Salary Grade: £29,970 - £37,338 (full-time equivalent)

Working Pattern: Mainly during the school day

With some flexibility for after-school training, meetings with families, and CPD delivery

Hours: 37 hours per week

Annual Leave: Term time only

Part-time will also be considered

Location: Central office in Leigh, travelling to schools within the Trust

Required From: ASAP

In this role, you will:

Work directly with children with speech, language and communication needs, providing assessment, intervention, and therapeutic support.

Support pupils with a broad range of speech, language, and communication needs — from speech sound and fluency difficulties to developmental language disorders, social communication challenges (including those linked to autism and ADHD), and language needs associated with wider learning or medical conditions

Support schools through consultation, advice, and modelling strategies that promote inclusive practice and early identification of need.

Contribute to the development and implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans and provide evidence for statutory processes.

Deliver staff training and professional development, equipping colleagues with the skills to embed speech and language strategies in classrooms.

Work collaboratively with leaders, teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach that benefits every child.

Champion preventative, solution-focused approaches that reduce barriers to learning and enhance wellbeing.

Contribute to Trust-wide SEND priorities, with opportunities to extend the service into partner schools in the future.

We are looking for an HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about inclusion, communication, and helping children achieve their potential academically and socially.
