Sports Coach Unqualified Teacher job summary

You will join our existing school team and be an integral part of delivering high-quality sport, play and physical education across the school day. Working alongside teachers and support staff, you will lead engaging PE lessons, promote active play at lunchtimes and after school, and support pupils to develop positive attitudes to teamwork and physical wellbeing. You will also take responsibility for the use and care of PE equipment and lead our Forest Schools provision, making creative use of our outdoor spaces to enhance learning.

Main Purpose of the Job

To be responsible for working alongside the teachers, teaching assistants and midday supervisors to provide high quality sport and play activities across the timetable and beyond the school day.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working with whole classes to deliver engaging and inclusive high-quality physical education, physical activity and sport to EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • To assist with planning and preparation of lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Promote children’s physical wellbeing and development through structured PE sessions
  • Enhance children’s learning using outdoor space creatively and effectively
  • To produce and run a programme of sports, games and activities at lunchtime times and after school
  • To actively support pupils in the playground by teaching them to play co-operatively, introduce them to a range of playtime games and activities
  • Monitor and record student activities as appropriate writing records and reports as required
  • To be responsible for looking after PE equipment and advise when resources are needed
  • Help children develop positive attitudes to learning through support and mentoring both inside and outside the classroom
  • To play an active role in our relational approach
  • Interact with parents, external sports providers and develop community links
  • To lead on Forest Schools
