Your new school
Hasmonean Multi-Academy Trust is seeking to appoint outstanding Standards and Attendance Officer to join its Girls’ School. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident, organised and committed individual who is passionate about supporting young people and maintaining high standards within a secondary school environment.

The school is looking for someone with presence who can uphold high disciplinary standards in a dignified, professional and consistent manner. You will become an important member of the school community, helping to create a safe, welcoming and well-ordered environment in which students can thrive.

Your new role

As Standards and Attendance Officer, you will support the administration, maintenance and implementation of the school’s behaviour, standards and attendance policies. Working closely with school leaders, pastoral colleagues, form tutors, parents and external agencies, you will help ensure that students attend school regularly, arrive punctually and meet the school’s expectations for behaviour and uniform.

A key part of the role will be monitoring student attendance through the school’s management information system. You will record late arrivals, check that statutory registration has been completed, chase missing registers, follow up absences and communicate with parents and guardians when reasons for absence are required.

You will produce weekly attendance information, support strategies to improve attendance and help students experiencing emotionally based school anxiety or school refusal. This may include working alongside families and external agencies and completing home visits where required.

Your wider responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of the school’s punctuality, uniform and behaviour policies
  • Communicating with students and families about lateness, absence and detentions
  • Monitoring attendance at lunchtime and after-school detentions
  • Supporting vulnerable students and contacting parents when identified students are absent
  • Supervising students during morning break, lunchtime and detentions
  • Assisting with the school’s attendance reward system
  • Helping new and supply staff understand registration procedures
  • Supporting the Student Services Office and providing administrative cover when required
  • Playing an active role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

What you'll need to succeed

You will be a self-motivated and authoritative professional who combines high expectations with an approachable and respectful manner. You will be able to remain calm, organised and effective while managing competing priorities and responding confidently to challenging situations.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as you will regularly engage with students, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders. You will also need to build positive working relationships, foster mutual respect and work collaboratively with colleagues across the school.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • High expectations of students and colleagues
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The confidence and presence to manage student behaviour effectively
  • A flexible, energetic and determined approach
  • The ability to inspire trust and confidence
  • Sensitivity to the school’s ethos
  • An understanding of strategies that promote student progress, safety and welfare
  • The ability to engage parents in their children’s education
  • Confidence using technology to manage day-to-day responsibilities and support effective student care

Experience within a secondary school, basic office computer skills and evidence of continuing professional development would be desirable.
