What skills and experience we're looking for

Bishop Justus is seeking to appoint a Full Time or Part Time Subject Leader of Design & Technology to lead the subject from September 2026. This vacancy presents a unique opportunity for an experienced Teacher or current Head of Department to make an impact on an important area of the national curriculum. The Subject Leader of D&T should be prepared to pursue high academic standards and able to deliver an excellent education.

The successful candidate will have the ability to lead the provision of D&T for students at the school as we work towards delivering a full and balanced curriculum.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be an excellent Leader of Design & Technology specialising in Resistant Materials;
  • Have a love of the subject and desire and ability to convey this to students;
  • Have a love of all areas of design technology, including product design and textiles;
  • Be enthusiastic, energetic and open to innovation;
  • Possess effective communication skills and be emotionally intelligent;
  • Possess effective ICT skills and be open to new uses of technology in the workplace;
  • Be committed to extra-curricular activities including lunch time activities;
  • Be committed to continuing professional learning;
  • Have integrity, optimism and a good sense of humour;
  • Hold a good honours degree along with qualified teacher status.
