What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a passionate Law Tutor to join the high achieving law department. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver inspiring lessons, bring knowledge and experience to the curriculum, and have a desire to teach beyond the specification, believing every student can succeed. Furthermore, they will have an appreciation that the commitment to delivering outstanding educational outcomes goes beyond the classroom.
All staff within the Trust need to have a commitment to professional development, an enthusiasm for teamwork and a passion for improvement.
While a teaching qualification is desirable, we will consider applications from non- qualified graduates. Graduates looking to start a career in teaching at the Sixth Form College will be allocated a reduced timetable with comprehensive support and mentoring. Future opportunities to obtain a teaching qualification will be considered.

The Law Department
The law department currently consists offive specialist teachers who teach both OCR A Level Law and Pearson BTEC Applied Law to over 550 students. Areas of law taught include criminal, tort, contract and family law. Subject tutors are committed to maximising student success and progression. On the A Level side, this involves supporting students to prepare for 3 intensive exams by giving clear explanations and guiding student practice. On the BTEC side, this involves developing students’ ability to work independently to produce their coursework and prepare for their Set Task assessments. We are committed to delivering this qualification for as long as it is available as part of the Level 3 qualification reform.
Beyond the classroom, the team enjoy providing a fuller experience to their students through facilitating events such as the National Bar Mock Trial, university law days, professional outside speakers, apprenticeship competitions and volunteering opportunities.
The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic to work in a considerate, collaborative and friendly environment, as the department often creates and shares their resources. Their primary motivation should be to maximise student potential and work to meet the goals of the department as set out above. Flexibility and a passion for teaching and learning is paramount, with excellent work ethic and subject knowledge. The successful candidate will benefit from the support of two curriculum managers, one on the A Level side and the other on BTEC.
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to work within an experienced and passionate team who are always keen to collaborate and provide support for each other.
