What skills and experience we're looking for

As a Swimming Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils to access safe, engaging and therapeutic swimming and hydrotherapy sessions. Working under the direction of the Swimming Instructor, teachers and therapists, you will help deliver structured aquatic activities that promote physical development, communication, sensory regulation and wellbeing.

You will be required to work in the water, supporting pupils to enter, move and participate safely using appropriate flotation aids and manual handling techniques. You will also support the delivery of hydrotherapy programmes under the guidance of a physiotherapist.

You will play a key role in encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and enjoyment in water, while contributing to a positive and supportive team environment and sharing progress with colleagues and families.

What the school offers its staff

Two Bridges Academy is a specialist SEND school that opened in September 2024 and, in a short time, has established an exceptional educational offer for our pupils. As we move towards our final phase of growth in September 2026, we are now seeking to expand our team by appointing an outstanding Swimming Assistant.

We are designated as a provision for pupils with SLD and PMLD, with a large proportion of our cohort having ASC or SLCN identified as the primary need on their EHCP. Our provision is carefully adapted to meet the diverse needs of all pupils, including in our hydrotherapy and swimming sessions
