Swimming Instructor job summary
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver structured, fun and progressive swimming lessons tailored to the needs of pupils (30mins lessons for 10 pupils per group)
Plan and deliver an after school swimming club
Provide clear instruction and demonstrations of swimming techniques
Regularly assess each participant’s ability and progress, providing constructive feedback to swimmers
Ensure safety standards are followed at all times by adhering to pool safety operating procedures, including the normal operating policy and emergency action plan
Maintain a safe, clean, and secure teaching environment, including checking life saving equipment and setting up/storing equipment
Undertake administrative duties such as recording achievements using manual or electronic systems
Assisting with enquiries and resolving problems professionally
Adhere to all safeguarding children policies and procedures
Essential Qualifications
A current, nationally recognised Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification and one of the following together with site specific and regular ongoing competency assessed CPD training relative to your lifeguard/rescue qualification
RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
STA Pool Lifeguarding
RLSS UK National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)
STA Safety Award for Teachers
