Why choose Banwell?

Stronger relationships: as a small, village school we have a strong team and a tight-knit community meaning that we can get to know our children, team and surrounding community well. Although our school is small, our access larger sports, cultural and arts events with our academy trust means the children of Banwell (and beyond), have more aspirational experiences and meet other children and people from all walks of life. Our teachers can consistently broaden their skills in foundation subjects such as art, music and sports/PE.

Responsibility potential: as a small team, teachers can have more opportunities to take on leadership roles and participate in decision-making if they wish to; a great way to grow professionally and make a difference within the school community.

Greater collaboration: working in a smaller school team, collaboration with colleagues is easier and more frequent. You'll receive ongoing professional development and coaching to excel in your career and benefit from an extensive team of colleagues from around the trust. You’ll work hard but develop as a teacher and make a big impact in and around Banwell village.

Community focus: in a close village school community, school becomes more than just an educational establishment; we are a vibrant hub that integrates the lives of pupils, teachers, parents, and villagers. School fairs, performances, art events, and work in the community become shared experiences that strengthen bonds and raise funds for shared goals.

Heritage and events: local history, culture and environment are woven into our curriculum, providing our children with a good sense of belonging and responsibility for where they live.

Local environment: We make frequent and purposeful use of our fantastic, surrounding environment. This includes termly fieldtrips where classes explore the woods, river, caves and traditional village features as well as learning from the pond, forest school, field and wooded areas in our beautiful village school.
