About this role
We are seeking an inspiring and committed Teacher to join our Sixth Form team, delivering a curriculum that supports young people as they prepare for adulthood.
This role involves teaching students with a range of physical and complex needs, using applied and experiential learning to develop their independence, communication, confidence, and life skills. You will play a key role in helping students access new experiences, build community connections, and gain the knowledge and skills needed for their next steps beyond school.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to individual needs.
- Supporting students to develop life skills including communication, independence, functional literacy and numeracy, and practical skills for adulthood.
- Providing opportunities for experiential learning through community visits, enterprise projects, creative activities, and real‑life problem solving.
- Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and external agencies to deliver a holistic, student‑centred education.
- Fostering confidence, resilience and decision‑making skills in unfamiliar environments and situations.
- Ensuring a strong ethos of safety, well‑being and personal development, including safe use of technology.
We are looking for candidates who:
- Are passionate about improving outcomes for young people with SEND.
- Have strong classroom practice and the ability to adapt creatively to diverse learning needs.
- Demonstrate high expectations of student engagement, behaviour and achievement.

Education Impact Academy Trust is a MAT incorporating Wilson Stuart School, Queensbury School and Mayfield School. Wilson Stuart School is an Ofsted designated outstanding all age (2 – 25 years) Special School which provides very high-quality education for 257 pupils and young people who have physical disabilities, and/or complex medical conditions. Queensbury School provides for 245 students who have MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) and SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health). Mayfield School educates children and young people, who have a range of learning difficulties, between the ages of 3 and 19 and have approximately 300 students on roll.
