Teacher job summary

The Academy Council are seeking to appoint a highly effective and reflective classroom practitioner to teach in our Year 1 class. Candidates should be highly motivated with a desire to continually develop their own teaching skills to ensure that all pupils succeed in a caring and Christian environment.

Our school is situated in Medomsley, a beautiful village on the edge of County Durham, between Consett and Stanley. Our school, with its modern building and adjacent woodland, is at the heart of the community. We are a warm, happy and caring school community built on our core Christian values of Trust, Respect, Compassion and Hope and we seek to enable everyone in our school to ‘Shine as a Light in the World’ (Philippians 2:15).

The school has recently had a very successful Ofsted and a change of leadership, and we are looking to recruit a motivated and inspirational teacher to join our fantastic staff and become a key member of our school.

We require a class teacher who:

  • Has an excellent knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum objectives and expectations
  • Has an excellent understanding of KS1 and KS2 teacher assessment
  • Has a good knowledge of phonics and Early Reading
  • Works effectively as part of a whole school team
  • Can contribute to the wider school community
