What skills and experience we're looking for

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (not suitable for ECTs)
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting
  • Strong communication and ICT skills
  • Sensitivity to the needs of pupils with SEN, SEMH and communication difficulties
  • Ability to work flexibly across settings and phases

Desirable:

  • Training in Special Education, ASD, SEMH
  • Subject specialism in Maths or Science
  • Experience with EHCPs and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and attachment-aware practices

About the role:

This is a unique opportunity to work with pupils experiencing anxiety-related barriers to learning. You’ll provide in-school and outreach teaching, develop personalised strategies, and collaborate with families and professionals to support learners across Primary and Secondary.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering tailored curriculum packages aligned with EHCP outcomes.
  • Supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Leading and guiding supporting staff.
  • Contributing to staff training and curriculum development across the trust.

We are delighted to welcome you to our school, Castlebridge, based in Tavistock, Devon.

Castlebridge School has pupils with emotionally based school avoidance and anxiety linked to autism. All pupils will have an EHCP and be processed through Devon admissions. This provision will be carefully designed to meet the needs of pupils who have often found it challenging in a mainstream school. Castlebridge school will cater for up to 30 pupils from Year 3 to Year 11. We pride ourselves on providing tailored support and education to empower our pupils to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
