About this role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable and creative Teacher to join our dedicated team at Wilson Stuart School on a 0.6 FTE fixed‑term basis to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will teach across one of our specialist pathways and support learners with a range of physical, medical and communication needs.
While this is a generic teaching role, the postholder will also be required to deliver a number of cooking and food‑based lessons as part of the pathway’s functional and practical curriculum. No specialist Food Technology background is required — just a willingness to deliver engaging, practical sessions that promote independence and life skills.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering high‑quality, differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of learners with a variety of additional needs.
- Teaching across the curriculum, including supporting a small number of cooking and practical life‑skills lessons.
- Planning and assessing using a pupil‑centred, multisensory approach.
- Working collaboratively within a pathway team including Teachers, Learning Leads, TAs, Therapists and medical staff.
- Creating an inclusive, safe and stimulating classroom environment.
- Ensuring learning is accessible, meaningful and develops communication, independence and confidence.
- Contributing to EHCP reviews, annual reviews and ongoing progress monitoring.
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
