Fountain Head House School is a growing Independent Special day school based in Saltash in Cornwall. The school caters for pupils from 4 to 16 with a range of special educational needs.

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teacher to support pupils working 2-3 years below Age‑Related Expectations, typically spanning EYFS-Reception to KS1 age, while following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. The successful candidate will create a highly adaptive, play‑based and developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes communication, independence and emotional regulation. You will work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised learning pathways that enable every child to thrive and make meaningful progress.

You will work closely with the school’s therapy team and creative lead to develop your pupils through using pecs, communication boards and creative practices.

Main responsibilities: (please see job description and personal specification for full details)

To be an effective professional who demonstrates knowledge of the EYFS and KS 1 Curriculum.

To be able to plan, teach and assess effectively, for EYFS and KS 1 following statutory guidance and in accordance with the school’s planning procedures pupils who present a range of SEND and whose cognitive ability might be significantly below age related expectations.

To keep abreast of current and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

To ensure that teaching and learning follow the school’s Curriculum Policy including adaptive learning and the Curriculum pathways;

To ensure that pupils make at least good progress from their starting points, that gaps in learning are addressed and pupils reach their potential in preparation for adult life;

To complete all scheduled assessing, recording, and reporting events following specified deadlines to show the impact of teaching and learning for each pupil in the class.
