Teachers, Glendinning Academy, Newton Abbot We are looking to appoint outstanding Teachers with experience of working with challenging/SEN pupils. We welcome all applicants and are particularly interested in those with English, Maths or Art specialist knowledge. Our ideal candidate will have excellent teamwork and communication skills, the ability and enthusiasm to make a difference with students who have a range of needs. We look forward to hearing from you. Teachers work collaboratively with our team in order to plan schemes of work that provide all of pupils access to the national curriculum through experiential and active learning. At key stage 4 and 5 pupils will have the opportunity to study qualifications suitable to their level and need and linked with our whole school outdoor based theme including GCSEs and A levels. Wave MAT is dedicated to the safeguarding of children and Safer Recruitment Procedures will be followed. The position requires a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. Glendinning Academy is a 120 place Special School for children aged from 7 to 19 with social interaction and communication needs including those on the Autism Spectrum. The academy opened in 2019 and will have grown to 120 pupils and associated staff by Sep 2022.

Pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans with primary needs of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Glendinning Academy provides a personalised supportive environment. Pupils have opportunities to use outdoor learning to access the National Curriculum, developing communication, interaction, social and emotional skills. Working in partnership with pupils, and their parents/carers the academy supports pupils academically and in their journey to independence. These partnerships play a vital role in ensuring pupils enjoy, succeed and achieve.
