A fantastic opportunity has arisen within The Castle School, Taunton, for an ambitious and inspirational Teacher of Art who is passionate about providing high quality teaching and learning and has a natural flair for delivering creative and dynamic lessons to join our school from September 2024.

At The Castle School you will be joining an enthusiastic andhard-workingteamthat includes Art, Drama,Dance,and Music. All students follow a varied Arts curriculum with specialist teachers through key stage 3, and benefit from a fantastic range ofextra-curricularopportunities including clubs and groups, music tuition, concerts, plays and musicals including a major school production, a Dance showcase, VarietyShow, Community Concertand Art, Photography and Textiles exhibitions. We offer 5 Arts GCSE courses and 2 BTEC Courses and up-take at key stage 4 is excellent. You will need to be able to teach Textiles at GCSE level.

What the school offers its staff

The Arts are valued here for the huge contribution they make to the life of the school and to the learning and wellbeing of our students. The Art department currently has 2 full-time and 2 part time teachers, and there is a part time technician. Art is popular at both key stages, with students progressing to study Fine Art, Photography and Textiles GCSE courses. We have 3purpose-builtart rooms and regular use of a computer suite.

At The Castle School we have very high expectations of ourselves and of our students. We invest heavily in our staff and have a superb reputation for outstanding support and development for teachers, particularly for ECTs.
