What skills and experience we're looking for

About the Post

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Teacher of Art to join our creative and forward‑thinking Art department at The Grange School. This is a rare opportunity to join a thriving team and to play a vital role in inspiring the next generation of young artists.

The role will be based at The Grange School, a small, nurturing school with a close‑knit community and a strong commitment to ensuring every student feels they belong and can achieve highly. Art plays a central part in our vision for education beyond the academic, providing students with the space to explore ideas, express themselves, and develop confidence in their creative abilities.

Our Art departments at Twynham School and The Grange work closely together, collaborating on curriculum design, sharing expertise and developing ambitious creative projects. Through our federation partnership, our Art teachers benefit from shared professional practice, collaborative curriculum planning and wider creative opportunities, helping us inspire students, spark imagination and raise artistic ambition across both schools. This support gives colleagues in a small school the resources, inspiration and professional network often only found in larger settings.

This post would suit a colleague who is passionate about Art, excited by the chance to nurture creativity, and motivated to be part of a school that is improving at pace and driven by its vision. You will join a team that takes great pride in its work and is committed to securing the best possible experiences, both in and beyond the classroom, for all young people. At Twynham TGS, you will benefit from a strong culture of collaboration, high‑quality coaching and access to a wide range of CPD opportunities designed to support your ongoing professional growth.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented and ambitious Art teacher to join a dynamic federation and help shape the future of creative education across Christchurch. If you have the passion, energy and commitment to inspire young artists and make a meaningful difference, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • Teach Art within a high-performing and well-established department
  • Deliver exceptional extra-curricular opportunities within and beyond Art
  • Further contribute to our vision for education across the town of Christchurch
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

We would also welcome colleagues who bring experience of working within a wider Design & Technology faculty, or who are confident teaching subjects within this area alongside Art. This is desirable, but not essential.

You are likely to be someone who is or has the potential to be:

  • An inspirational and skilled teacher of Art
  • Committed to improving pedagogical practices using evidence-informed approaches
  • Committed to the power of extra-curricular opportunities in engaging students
  • Aspirational for career development and eager to seize additional career progression opportunities
  • Driven by the power of education to transform the lives of the most disadvantaged students

You will also be keen to live our Twynham Learning employee values which are:

  • Aim high
  • Keep improving
  • Don’t leave anyone behind
  • See the bigger picture
