What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of Business Studies and Economics to join our successful department. The appointed candidate would be expected to have excellent subject knowledge, contribute to the teaching of both Business Studies and Economics and get involved in the department’s extra-curricular offer. We have a very supportive, motivated team who are focused on delivering the very best learning experience for our students.

As well as a Business Foundation course in Year 9, the department offers Business Studies at GCSE and A-Level and Economics at A-Level. Results were very strong in 2023: in Business Studies, of the 86 GCSE candidates, 28% gained a grade 7+ and at A-Level 61% of the 31 candidates gained A*, A or B. In Economics, there were 33 entries and a 60% A*-B pass rate. The successful applicant would be expected to teach Business Studies to GCSE and at least one of Business Studies or Economics to A-Level. It is a well-resourced department with desk-top computers in each of the three classrooms.

We value staff development, with A-Level teaching being shared across the department. This post could equally suit an early career teacher, or someone with more experience, looking to join a successful and ambitious department.

This is a very exciting time to be joining TBSHS as we are relocating to a brand-new site less than a mile from our current location. We will have a fantastic new learning environment, supported by cutting edge technology, and huge opportunities for the future. Our vast list of extra-curricular activities and trips means students engage positively with school and represent our values with pride. Staff turnover is low, as they feel well-supported and enjoy working here, with many choosing the school for their own children (see school admissions code).
