Teacher of Business Studies job summary

We are seeking to appoint two Teachers of Business Studies, at our fantastic school MEA Central, to join our team of committed staff who share a common sense of purpose and high expectations of what students can achieve. Successful candidates will be capable of inspiring our students through your passion for the subject and ensuring that our students develop a depth of knowledge and a love of Business Studies, and achieve beyond their own expectations. An ability to teach Computer Science would be desirable. Our vision of a fantastic future for all our students is easy to understand but complex to achieve as the future evolves so rapidly around us. Our students have to adapt in order to build themselves a secure and resilient future. Our vision underpins all we do, and our starting point is excellent academic results. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in working at a school with a phenomenal culture that is achieved through commitment and hard work. This role provides the opportunity to excel in a supportive environment, and the right candidate will be willing to be vulnerable, open to development and believe that ‘feedback is a gift’. We encourage early applications and reserve the right to close this vacancy before the closing date if we receive a high volume of applicants All schools within the Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. If you have lived or worked outside of the UK in the last 5 years, the Trust will also require additional information in order to comply with safer recruitment requirements. Any job offer will be conditional on the satisfactory completion of the necessary pre-employment checks including receipt of satisfactory references.

MEA Central is a thriving 11-16 mixed secondary serving South Manchester.

We opened to 210 Y7 students in September 2017, growing to full capacity in 2021. We are defined by our mission, ‘A fantastic future for all.' We care about helping students to be their best and know the only way to do this is through academic achievement, character development and strong pastoral support.

The bedrock of our vision is excellent academic results and we deliver a challenging, knowledge-rich curriculum to prepare students not only for the new GCSE assessment regime but also further education and life beyond. We expect our students to meet our high expectations in terms of commitment and work ethic, but we also seek to ignite their intellectual passions and curiosities so that they become autonomous, fulfilled learners during their time with us.

There is so much more to MEA Central than what happens inside our classrooms, however! As a new and growing school, students benefit from a level of pastoral care and attention second to none. Our co-curriculum, which includes our extensive extra-curricular programme, ensures every child gains valuable cultural capital and experiences success in areas such as sport, music, drama and community activities.

Ultimately at MEA Central we want to create good people who will go out into the world and do what is right. Our values of Citizenship, Achievement and Participation and our belief in the power of language and the importance of the spoken word will develop confident young adults with a strong sense of social responsibility.
