Teacher of Computing job summary

We are looking for an inspirational and committed Teacher of Computing to join our outstanding Computing department at The Castle School from January 2023 or sooner if possible. The successful candidate will join our outstanding Trust comprising two secondary schools and a growing number of primary schools. Should this post interest you but you’re not a specialist in Computing, then this vacancy could enable a non-specialist Teacher to teach Computing in a secondary school. Computing is an evolving and exciting subject to teach. Rising demand in the subject, means there are opportunities for teachers to upskill and offer Computing as a second subject. The post will enable the candidate to develop specialist knowledge for teaching Computing, thus enabling them to understand, teach and support students in computing in the classroom. The candidate will, alongside teaching, complete a range of CPD on Computing knowledge and pedagogy. They will also be assigned a mentor to guide them through the process. In 2019, The Castle School was delighted to be awarded official Computing Hub status by the National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE), in order to provide support for primary and secondary computing teachers in schools in the area. We are part of a network of Computing Hubs across England and are at the cutting edge of local computing training for schools, making strong links with industry and universities. New colleagues benefit hugely from this drive on computing pedagogy and there are opportunities for any successful applicant to be involved in the Computing Hub going forwards. At The Castle Partnership Trust we are fortunate to have students who are motivated and enthusiastic about learning and taking part in the huge range of enrichment on offer. The Castle Partnership Trust is committed to providing strong professional development support for all colleagues who work with us. As a Teaching School and Trust sponsor, there are opportunities to build a fantastic CV working with working across The Castle Partnership Trust and within our Partnership of four schools.
