What skills and experience we're looking for

The successful candidate will ideally have recent experience teaching in a secondary school, strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology and/or Art and Design, and the ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities. A Food and Nutrition specialism is desirable, along with a commitment to high-quality teaching, inclusion, safeguarding and student wellbeing. Applicants should be effective team players, able to build positive relationships, contribute to school life, and work flexibly across both Westwood College and Leek High School.

This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced practitioners to join a supportive and forward-thinking Trust. For the right candidate, there is also the opportunity to undertake a temporary Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR) of £1,500 to lead and develop initial teacher training and ECT’s across the two high schools.

About the Role

You will play a key role in delivering engaging and creative lessons that inspire students to develop practical skills, creativity, critical thinking and academic success.

The successful candidate will be employed across Westwood College and Leek High School, working collaboratively to support students and curriculum delivery across both settings. The post holder will have a designated primary base school but will be expected to work across both schools where required. Flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to travel between locations are therefore essential requirements of the role.

You will:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across KS3-5, depending on experience and specialism.

  • Plan and teach engaging lessons that promote creativity, innovation and academic achievement.

  • Assess, monitor and support student progress to ensure strong outcomes.

  • Contribute to curriculum development within Design and Technology and/or Art and Design.

  • Support wider school priorities including safeguarding, behaviour and attendance.

  • Contribute to enrichment opportunities and the wider life of the school community.

  • Work collaboratively across both schools to share expertise and enhance provision.

  • Support teacher training and development across the Trust where applicable.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic teacher who:

  • Has, or is working towards, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • Is passionate about high-quality teaching and learning.

  • Has strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology and/or Art and Design.

  • Has a Food and Nutrition background or specialism (desirable).

  • Can motivate and inspire students of all abilities.

  • Has a commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and student wellbeing.

  • Works effectively as part of a team and contributes positively to school life.

  • Is flexible and willing to work across multiple Trust sites as required.
