Teacher of Design Technology job summary

A fantastic opportunity is awaiting you; the chance to design and shape innovative and creative pedagogical practice in an all-through academy in Bracknell.

King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) is now looking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative teacher of Design Technology to play an intrinsic role in our all-through academy in Bracknell Forest. Particular subject specialisms within Resistant Materials; Product Design and/or Engineering would be desirable. The department is a well-resourced and purpose built facility consisting of a suite of workshops and design facilities.

KAB opened in a superb building in September 2018 with 120 Year 7 students. Now KAB consists of Nursery - Year 6 in the primary phase and Year 7 - Year 13 in the secondary phase. In September 2019, KAO, a brand new 1 FE primary school a mile away opened. After years of growth, KAO has the full range of primary age classes from Year R - Year 6. Both academies are run cohesively sharing the same leadership, staff, values, curriculum, opportunities and expectations of excellence.

What we offer:

  • Free on-site parking
  • Eye care policy
  • Staff awards and gift card nominations
  • Staff social events
  • Employee Assistance/Wellbeing Scheme
  • Continuous professional development and sponsorship for professional qualifications, apprenticeships and free training - opportunities for growth

Whilst a main scale role initially, there will be increasing opportunities for leadership roles within the academy as the school expands. Potential is as important as experience.

Applicants should be excellent classroom teachers and have the ability to motivate, inspire and lead students to excel. The successful candidate will be a team player and will get stuck in and involve themselves in the wider aspects of academy life. A genuine commitment to our ‘whatever it takes’ ethos is essential to enable every young person at KAB and KAO to thrive.

King’s Academy Binfield and King’s Academy Oakwood are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young students and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

If you would like to know more about the role, we can arrange an informal call or you are welcome to book a visit - we would be delighted to show you around our school.
