What the school offers its staff

At West Norfolk Academies Trust, we deeply value giving all of our staff access to continued professional development and high-quality support in order for them to thrive in their professional lives.

Our bespoke CPD offer is tailored to individual members of staff, our schools and at a trust level ensuring that the right support is given at every stage of an individuals career. Trust, school and individual priorities are mapped out across each academic year so that support can be provided by the right specialist, either within our organisation or externally.

Further details about the role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic drama teacher to our performing arts faculty. The successful candidate would join a team of dedicated and ambitious teachers, focussed on continuing to grow the subject both within and outside of the curriculum.

Springwood High School has been renowned for its performance arts subjects for many years, with drama being a huge part of this. In the past we have taken shows on tour to Australia. More recently we have produced a couple of productions each year, this year producing Live Like Pigs and Beauty & the Beast.

Drama is taught from key stage 3 to A level. Each year at KS4 we have two GCSE classes, and also an A level class that attracts students from a wide area of West Norfolk and beyond. We have 3 dedicated classrooms (the drama studio plus two additional large drama classrooms), along with access to other rooms as required.

The successful candidate should be able, or willing, to teach across the age and ability range from key stage 3 to key stage 5. It is expected that the successful candidate will also take a lead role in organising an annual production, along with supporting afterschool drama clubs.

Commitment to safeguarding

West Norfolk Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and the post holder will share this responsibility, therefore appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check with barred list. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online search.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 but Exceptions Order may apply.

Springwood High School, part of West Norfolk Academies Trust

With more than a hundred years of history, Springwood provides an education for boys and girls aged between eleven and eighteen in King's Lynn.

We are a comprehensive school with Specialist Performing Arts Status and a long history of providing an excellent education to pupils in West Norfolk.

Our School is part of West Norfolk Academies Trust, dedicated to ensuring that every student gains the best qualifications possible. We believe that excellent academic qualifications provide each student with the best life chances and opportunities to ensure a successful and fulfilled future. In the last two years the percentage of students gaining 5 higher grades including English and Maths has risen significantly.

We have a high expectation of both our teachers and our students, set challenging targets for all and support each other to achieve them. We work hard to monitor accurately the progress of students, celebrate academic success and intervene where necessary.

A positive attitude to learning is an essential aspect of academic success. Our teachers regularly assess how engaged each learner is in their studies using an attitude to learning score. We celebrate students who have a good attitude to their studies and actively encourage those who need to improve in this area.

We offer a wide range of opportunities, both within and beyond the classroom - it is vital that every student participates in other areas of school life. Springwood expects every student to take part in other aspects of our offer to them including;
