- Experience of delivering: English Language and Literature at KS3 and KS4.
- Ability to teach a second subject at least at KS3.
- The ability to stimulate curiosity, interest and enjoyment in learning.
- Confidence in dealing with students across different age ranges particularly Key Stage 4 and 5.
- The determination to support in raising student achievement within the classroom.
- The passion to enrich the lives of our students and contribute to the development of Cultural Capital to enhance the life opportunities for our students.
- Outstanding inter-personal and communication skills with students, colleagues, parents and other professionals.
- Ability to teach PSHE as part of our form time programme.
- A clear understanding of the importance of Safeguarding.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding classroom practitioner - someone enthusiastic, innovative and engaging - who will be a committed addition to our already highly successful team. The successful candidate will teach English and possibly a second subject such as Media Studies (as part of the Communications Faculty) or KS4 Drama. The Communications Faculty is made up of a wide range of highly experienced and skilled teachers and teaching assistants. The Communications faculty includes English (Language and Literature), Media Studies KS4 and 5, Modern Foreign Languages and Bilingual Learning.
We currently offer GCSE Media Studies (EDQUAS), GCSE English Language and Literature (AQA) and Level 3 Media (Single Award) and A Level English Literature (AQA, Lit B).
We would welcome applications from teachers early in their careers, including PGCE students through to experienced staff. *We would also consider someone who may want part time (Minimum 0.6) who is willing to job share within the faculty.
Our last Ofsted inspection was in October 2021 where the Academy was judged to be good in all categories and for overall effectiveness with some excellent feedback across all subjects and our Pastoral Care. Joseph Leckie Academy is a vibrant, exciting and innovative mixed 11-18 Academy. Our ongoing desire to continually look to move forwards means that this is an exciting time to join our successful and welcoming team. The Academy has remained as one of the top non-selective secondary schools for progress in Walsall based on validated results and is a great place to work.
We pride ourselves on our high expectations of all learners.
