Oaklands English department has a strong track record for developing staff, their teaching, and achieving outstanding outcomes in a supportive environment. We are proud to have good staff retention: the majority of the team have been at the school for over six years, and everyone has been here for at least three.

The school is a high-performing comprehensive. In 2023, we achieved a 0.41 progress score. English Literature is taught at Key Stage 5 and is a popular subject in our sixth form. A Level English Literature has been 100% A*-C from 2019 to 2023.
