Teacher of English job summary

The Bishop Wand Church of England School seeks to appoint from September 2019, a well-motivated and talented English teacher able to inspire students across Key Stages 3-5. Applications from Newly Qualified Teachers looking for their first post or more experienced teachers looking to join a high-performing team are equally welcome. Our School has a thriving English Faculty which is instrumental to the improvements seen in the School in recent years. In 2020, 7.4% of students achieved grade 9 in GCSE English Literature and 77% grade 9-5 in English. Many of our students join our Sixth Form which offers English Language, English Literature and Media Studies at A level, and subsequently go onto higher education and careers revolving around their love of English. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and friendly teaching team which has a significant involvement in the life blood of the whole school. The successful candidate will have insight and enthusiasm; should be willing to adopt an innovative approach to curriculum planning and be committed to using a wide range of approaches to support pupils making progress in and out of lessons. In return we can offer you a friendly and supportive environment with excellent professional development and progression opportunities.
