Salary: Main Pay Scale (Inner London) Start: January 2026 Hours: part-time or full-time.

We would like to recruit a Teacher of Geography to teach all key stages, with the ability to teach other humanities subjects, to join us in January 2026. We require a versatile, capable and enthusiastic team player to join a successful department and show their commitment to the excellent range of field trips offered to students.

Applications are welcome from experienced teachers or ECTs. We offer an excellent ECT induction programme.

About the department

We would like to recruit a teacher of Geography to join our vibrant, collaborative and dynamic team. The department has a very strong academic record both at GCSE and A Level. Of the 55 GCSE entries in 2026, 36% of the cohort gained 9-8 and 92% achieved a 4 or above. At A Level, out of a cohort of 30 students in 2026, 73% gained A*-A and 93% gained A*-B. We currently have 98 students in our Year 10 cohort, 86 students in Year 11, 28 students in Year 12 and 29 students in Year 13.

Field trips are a great asset to the teaching in the department, these include two residential field trips, one to the Lake District at A Level and Italy as part of a Humanities Faculty wide trip in Year 9. GCSE geographers conduct fieldwork in Kings Cross and River Chess while KS3 students frequently explore their local environment by conducting fieldwork in and around Marylebone.

Students are given the opportunity to take part in a number of extra-curricular events which include workshops facilitated by UrbanPlan and Westminster City Council, A Level to Key Stage 4 peer mentoring, Higher Education preparation, Royal Geographical Society lecture trips, as well as numerous opportunities for discussion and debate.

The department is developing links with how Geography links to careers and this is something we hope to develop even further in the coming years. All members of the department are expected to contribute to the extra-curricular offering and provide revision and extension opportunities for their classes. There is a strong ethos of collaborative teaching and learning, particularly at KS4 and KS5.
