Teacher of Geography job summary

We are seeking to recruit a teacher who will demonstrate commitment to our “Ambition for All” values by inspiring all students to achieve. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Teacher of Geography to join our fantastic department and strengthen an already excellent humanities department. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a small but strong forward thinking department within our over-subscribed school in the heart of Corby

First and foremost, we are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious, hardworking classroom practitioner who has the ability to inspire students to love the subject and achieve their full potential. At CTS, staff work collaboratively within the department to create shared resources. Your ideas will have an impact across your department because we work together, sharing good practice. This year we have undertaken the introduction of the Geography A Level as well as the Level 3 Travel and Tourism course offering the opportunity to teach post 16.

At CTS, we aim to develop a sense of wonder about our world by questioning, investigating, exploring, and justifying. It is the expectation that both students and teachers alike will support this vision, enjoying lessons which promote wonder about the world, and a sense that this wonder can be developed through the learning of knowledge and second order concepts. We want pupils to feel confident in asking questions about the world around them and be able to ‘Think and Speak like a geographer’. We will do this by using synoptic concepts such as place, space and interconnection.

Human and Physical Geography are equally weighted as possible to ensure pupils develop learning from both sides of the discipline. This is applied to KS3 and KS4 to provide a varied and balanced curriculum over time. At KS5 teaching is split between staff to maximise individual specialisms, to maximise quality teaching and subject knowledge.

Beginning in January 2024, our new term structure will follow the Northamptonshire framework. This could be an exciting prospect if you are currently employed, or have family who are employed or in education, under this structure. More information about our term dates is available at https://www.corbytechnicalschool.org/page/?title=Term+Dates&pid=252
